A 0.5% fee for a home refinance was announced and then postponed, but it becomes official again on Dec. 1.
To avoid the fee, you have to refinance beofre December 1st. Mortgage rates are very low right now and there are savings to be had if you shop the right products. Beware of massive closing costs from some of the bigger companies. I had a colleague tell me one of the biggies wanted over 20k in closing costs for a $400k loan – the Devil is in the Details (always)
There’s certainly nothing wrong with checking with a mortgage broker that you trust – now is definitely the time!
